Christmas Eve celebrations
The Malt House (popular after-work pub) and Molly Malones (Wellington's original Irish pub) played host to our Christmas Eve celebrations. Joining us in the celebrations were Jack and Heather from Jen's work, John and Alice from Nige's work, several sambucas and a lot of beer!
After spilling black sambuca all over the Malt House, we moved on to Molly's which was full of very friendly merry people and we met a few random English and Welsh people, including a guy called Dove (short for Dyffydd - spelling?) who was at pains to explain that his name was NOT Dave or David, but Dove! It was all very jolly and we drank far too much seeing as we didn't want to be too hungover for Christmas Day! Good intentions, eh?!
Halfway through the night, Molly's was raided by 8 policemen on a mission to check that no-one was too intoxicated on Christmas Eve!! Bizarre concept! Jack was taken outside by one of them and asked 'Have you had a drink tonight, sir?'!! Well, what's a guy say to that?
There was a live Irish band, and we slow-danced to Fairytale of New York by the Pogues which made Jen homesick (why?), but another round of Sambuca helped her to recover!!
So here it is Merry Christmas...
