Journey back to the North Island

We were due to spend another night in No. 1 hut and get the ferry back to Wellington on Monday morning, but we decided to change our crossing to Sunday night to give us a full day to see the sights on Monday (and I think Debs and Neil just wanted a night in a proper bed chez nous rather than another night in their campervan!!)

So we had fush and chups in the back of the campervan, and caught the ferry at 10:30pm from Picton, arriving at 1:30am. The crossing was really smooth, thank goodness, and the time aboard was spent as follows: Debs and Nige in the cinema watching ?; Jen - asleep; Neil - reading a book and wishing he could sleep! After the film, Debs also managed to catch 40 winks wearing everyone else's jumpers, curled up on the floor - bless!
