Tour of Wellington - Mount Victoria

So much for an early start and full day's sightseeing on Monday! Debs and Neil were so happy to be in a nice warm proper bed that we didn't see them till nearly midday!

Happily the sun was shining once we were all ready, so we started our city tour by climbing up Mount Victoria from our house, on the way trying to spot the tree root that the hobbits hid under when fleeing from the Nazgul in Lord of the Rings - apparently they filmed it on the side of Mount Vic somewhere!

From the top of Mount Vic, as you will have seen in previous blog updates, you can see all over the city in all directions. We eavesdropped on a 'Middle Earth' tour guide to learn lots of interesting LOTR facts eg. the beach where the hobbits learnt to surf, the place where Peter Jackson (the director and local hero) lives, and also some facts about the new Peter Jackson movie currently being filmed, a remake of King Kong!
